Vijay Shanthi to launch affordable housing project

Park Avenue, Chennai Chennai: Vijay Shanthi Builders Ltd has announced plans to launch a Rs 200-crore affordable housing project to the south of Chennai.

The company has informed the stock exchange, the 8.16 lakh sq.ft project, Park Avenue, at Kelambakkam, just off NH 45 will have over 950 residential units and 20 villa homes. The project includes shopping areas, open air theatre, and indoor and outdoor games and recreation facilities.

Mr Suresh Jain,Managing Director, Vijay Shanthi Builders, said the residential units would range from Rs 9 lakh for a 400 sq.ft single bedroom apartment to about Rs 20-25 lakh for larger units. The project is set for launch on January 14, coinciding with the harvest festival. Over a third of the units would be in the 400 sq.ft segment for which there is keen interest among buyers.

IT CORRIDOR

The company’s earlier launch in the affordable segment, Lotus Pond, on the IT corridor to the south of Chennai where over 1,200 units are coming up is selling well.

More than half the units have been sold, he said.The company is also planning projects in the upper and premium segments. It will soon launch one in Besant Nagar in South Chennai with apartments of 1,500-1,800 sq.ft priced at Rs 1.5-2 crore and a project in the premium segment with houses priced at about Rs 8 crore in Nungambakkam, he said.
