The Kingdom’s premier international property exhibition, Bahrain International Property Exhibition 2009 (Bipex 2009), will be formally declared open today at Bahrain International Exhibition Centre by H.E. Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Court, Kingdom of Bahrain.

The inaugural ceremony will be attended by a host of senior dignitaries, investors, sponsors, exhibitors and government officials. Bipex 2009 will remain open for three days from today, the last day being Friday, October 16, 2009.

Commenting on the enthusiastic response to Bipex this year, Mr. Mohammed Khalil Alsayed, Chairman of Bipex 2009 Organising Committee, said: “Bipex has entered the sixth consecutive successful year because of the active patronage and support extended to us by H.E. Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa as well as the encouragement from industry players that this forum has hosted. The response from exhibitors to Bipex 2009 including from some debutants who are major regional players, is a clear indication of the return of market confidence in the real estate sector, despite the adverse economic events of the past few quarters.”

Last year, Bipex attracted 98 participants from the UK, Portugal, India, Philippines, UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan and Bahrain and displayed urban development and infrastructural projects valued at $50bn. It broke attendance records by drawing 13,500 visitors.

This year’s event is also expected to set new standards. Admission is free for all and the exhibition will remain open from 10 am to 9 pm on all three days.
